Here you can see the cute "fryer" basket more clearly! |
Nourishment! |
I was sitting there for no more than two minutes, and the "BADA UE" drum band came marching down the street (complete with fancy steppin' and stickwork), followed by a guy dressed as a paper cone containing French fries. Then there were dancers in fanciful costumes (including a couple girls with pink hair). They apparently went down another pedestrian street to the west, and then came back up rue Montorgueil, this time with jugglers on stilts and people carrying huge bunches of balloons and a whole class of kids from (I'm guessing) the primary school down the street. The messages and the costumes seemed to be a promotion for "natural" (or non-genetically-engineered) foodstuffs, but I couldn't tell for sure. I got the sense that this might somehow be connected with Sunday's marathon. If any of you has any insight, let me know!
All I can say is: "ONLY IN PARIS!" Gotta love it. Am I a lucky chick, or what?!?

Love love love the guy dressed as frites. Too funny for words. Where are you staying this time?
Linda -- I'm in the 2nd at 12, rue Marie Stuart just a half block from rue Montorgueil.
Mariellen, your blog is fantastic as usual. And now I have your whereabouts. Curt and I will be at the Marriott 70 Champs-Élysées 75008 Paris, France
+33 1 53 93 55 00---starting Tues., 4/9 I wasn't going to bring a computer, just my iPhone. I suppose you use your computer and Wifi to do your blog? I need to go to the AT& T store to find out if my phone will work. Guess I will learn as I go. Hope we can rendez-vous. Amuse-toi bien! Maureen Fischer

We will be staying in an apartment in the 6th at 31 rue Mazarine. If you happen to be in that area (not far from St Germain des Pres), please take a peek at the building and let me know if it looks nice. Enjoy your visit. I know I will enjoy your blog!!
