Look Out, Paris, Here I Come! - Tuesday, 14 June
In January I noticed that a rental apartment I've been coveting was available for only one week during the summer, and that one week included my birthday. What could I do?!? I fly off tomorrow afternoon.
Here's a photo of my little dining table. And yes, that's the Seine outside my window! I'll be right on Île de la Cité, about 2 blocks from Notre Dame. For more info about the apartment, see www.vrbo.com/160070
I have a mostly-unstructured week "planned" (if one can plan the lack of structure), but a lot of stuff on my want-to-do-want-to-see-want-to-eat-want-to-shop list. As always, I'll pick up the latest edition of Pariscope when I arrive so that I can see what concerts, theatre, dance, etc. are playing during the week. I'll call Le Cordon Bleu to see what classes are in session. This neighborhood, of course, offers wonderful strolling and hanging-out opportunities. And I might even catch up on a little reading!
One very exciting event on my calendar: a first anniversary picnic for one of my favorite websites, "Paris by Mouth." http://www.parisbymouth.com/ on Sunday evening. This site's contributors include fabulous cookbook authors and food reviewers such as Patricia Wells, Dorie Greenspan, David Lebovitz, John Talbott, Clotilde Dusoulier, etc. Several of them will be at the picnic! So far 61 people have RSVP'd "oui" (including me). I can hardly wait!
So watch this blog for tales of my exciting adventures. À tout à l'heure (see ya later!).

I love vicarious vacations because they are FREE and don't involve jet lag or motion sickness.
